Love the rhythm of the words…nicely done.
Peace,

Thanks Siggi, peace :).
This is awesome. I’ve seen many of Tarantino’s behind the scenes documentary like videos, he’s one of my favorite people in the business, but never saw this one before. It is super cool, so much story and character in here, which is really surreal as this over the top character is real. Grindhouse was very cool, kind of under appreciated, but people really should check it out, both films are good.
Love the rap type flow here, great tempo here. Fantastic piece Anna.
I was introduced to her through the documentary Double Dare, which I loved and then connected the dots as I’ve seen the Kill Bill movies, Whip It, and had heard of Xena. Did you get a chance to listen to the recording of me reading it? It was a lot of fun, made me wish the poem was longer – ha :D! Thanks for the feedback!
you know what, I totally missed it, it was right under the video and my eyes just didn’t catch it. Glad you mentioned it here in your reply. That was fun. Sounds like you had a blast recording it, just love the energy in the reading, and the intonations are perfect. Makes a very cool post that much more amazing.
Thanks, people so rarely listen to the readings. I appreciate you coming back for it. I’m running out but will comment on your latest soon. You also had a great recording!
ha. lots of fun in your verse…some really quick flow to it…def wish it would have been longer…tarantino def rocks….
Thanks, puppy caretaking demanded short and sweet :).
😀 Can hear the fun you have reading that.
Appreciated the clip too.
True that :).
She’s in action and there’s no way to go but in it! Action /Action / ACTION!!! Got it.
This comment was in spam with the other on Series of Exceptions (sorry for the delay in responding there but I just checked the filter). Now I could have saved myself some words with your poetic short :). I always appreciate your visits!
Double Dare examines the man’s world of Hollywood stunt work and Jeannie Epper’s trailblazing (she was Lynda Carter’s stunt double on Wonder Woman), you might enjoy it.
Pertty raaaaad!
:D!
I love kick ass women! This was such fun Anna. You did have a lot of fun reading it too. Could hear it in your voice. Yes, it should have been longer but, is excellent as is! 🙂
Me too. I was a gymnast for years, played defense in soccer, and have been rock climbing, rappelling, river rafting, kayaking and was in my share of scraps as a child protecting my younger brother from bullies. My longest fall bouldering was 25 feet, saved by a pile of bushes. Otherwise I’d have hit rock. I’ve ridden on the hood of a car but not while being rear-ended!
She brought back memories of all the fun and made me forget the terror. I’m actually afraid of heights, have been since my cousin pushed me off the 10 meter board when I was learning how to swim some 30 years ago. These days I just run and do resistance training, very tame :).
Ha, love this! I have a big smile on my face… your reading was fabulous!
Aw, thanks, now I have a big smile on my face!
very cool capture of her..in the rhythm of a stunt scene..seems she’s a unleashed Wonder Woman indeed..ha..we need women like her…smiles
Thanks, I thought the style fit the action well. Yes, we do need women like her :).
Oh, yeah!! You’ve captured her! Excellent!
Thanks Hannah, it was a blast!
:)!!
The free fall recording was the most fun without a harness I’ve had in a while :).
I see this one is a bit different for you (re: the dVersePoets prompt), but judging from how enjoyably it reads, still well within in your capabilities-zone, excellent job, I love it!
True, though I enjoy playing around with forms, style, diction, atmospere, etc. so this is another extension of that (though normally I avoid rhyming like the plague :)). Thanks Steve!
What can I say? You always surprise (and often delight) me Anna, so it is always worth a visit xx
Awesome! I don’t like to be complacent or predictable :).
And I love you for that – hooray for innovators!
There you go making my day!
🙂 An innovator is truly how I see you… really, I don’t say things I don’t mean. Enjoy the day!
Well, now you’ve made my week so I’ll be enjoying several days thank you very much :)!
You’re welcome Anna, enjoy x
Loved this, your voice, your attack! Wow, and the background – both yours and Zoe’s. Thoroughly enjoyed this and the play of your words made all the work that it took (on both yours and Zoe’s part) disappear! Excellent!!
Yes, a lot of play but it was hours of research, thank you for the acknowledgment of the work :). What a beautiful comment and I deeply appreciate you listening to the recording!
Holy cow, batman! I see that your interest in behavioral poetry has taken a serious turn. What a romp, very fun to read from one so often serious. 🙂
True, I generally keep my daredevil/silly side super private. Glad you enjoyed the romp :).
a special Amazonia Kiwi Cat dance could be invented for your soaring poetics! :)enjoyed this muchly. the energy your words emanate is unique for perception.
Thanks Yelena, lovely to see you again. I look forward to reading your poem!
Definitely conveys explosive energy and action. So hard to do in words.
Sorry for the delayed response your comment was in spam. Thank you, that’s awesome.
oh, wow!!! i can’t believe it. i read the poem, having no idea what it was about, did not watch the video, and i thought, this is Kill BIll, I’ll just say “this poem totally reminds me of Kill Bill” and i decided i’d watch the video first, and it was Kill BIll it was exactly it!!! tooooooo kewwwwllllll!!!
Yes, she was Uma Thurman’s stunt double for both Kill Bill 1&2. There are lots of movie titles in there including Double Dare, Death Proof, and Whip It :). Thanks!!!
You get a real sense of swiftness and movement – the limbs and punches slicing the air. I love that in a poem. 🙂
Thanks! I hope you got a chance to listen to the recording :).
Cool writing, Anna 🙂
Ayala! Always great to see you :).
I loved both Kill Bill movies and just about anything Quintin T puts out. I enjoyed the video, the reading and poem. Excellent job. Very inspiring.
Awesome! I think she’s inspiring and I had a lot of fun putting this together. Thanks so much for engaging the whole post.
Anna, my smile is cracking my face. This is so good and your read of it amazing. It brought it to life. Bravo!!!!
Yay, a smile from Victoria! I really appreciate you listening to the recording. I feel it works best as a spoken word piece but have found that if I don’t provide text readers find it frustrating.
ZAP! POW! WHAM! BAM! Thank you, Ma’am!
You obviously are not pulling any punches or working with a stunt double on this one!
I was fun to here you read this one.
You’re welcome :)! Thanks for listening and for the fun comment.
This is lots of fun, Anna. I think it would qualify as ‘serious word play.’ ;_)
Thank goodness, I’ll be able to keep my reputation intact :D, ha!
It gives the effect of fast pace stunt actions in the short phrases. Very good verse Anna!
Hank
Yeah, I’m not known for brevity or rhyming so it was good to be a bit silly for a change :).
This is a fun one. I loved the audio! I’m a Tarantino fan, and also love ELmore Leonard, so Kill Bill is one of my favorites. Nice one, Anna! I enjoyed it!
Yay, the audio was the most fun for me though I got it on the second take so like a thrill ride it was over too soon :D! Well, then I’m glad I encouraged you to take a look.
That flea bit you good I will say hahaha, as you put on quite the rhyming display, tickled the cat’s rhyme bone and movies too, never fail, even though I’m not Tarantino’s biggest fan, same thing over and over again with him it seems.
Yeah, it made a welt! Darn bug! I am not Tarantino’s biggest fan either but I’m certainly a huge fan of Zoe!
Hi Anna! Your reading and poem have great gusto. You exemplify the playful and robust exploration of language of your Poetics post! Wonderful. k.
PS _ thanks so much for getting my book. k
Thanks, that’s a great compliment! I look forward to reading and enjoying your book soon.
It really is not in the least bit intellectual. But it is fun. k.
this is the most kick-ass fun I’ve had all week! what a pleasant and entertaining surprise. i loved your reading… you are fully participating in the piece. ~j.
Well, poetry is a full contact sport :D! Well, you’ve brightened my day knowing I brought some fun to your week!
gosh, i love that…. poetry is a full contact sport.
Man, don’t you wish you could do that stuff? That would be so awesome!
Love the write!
Yes as the coolest stunt I pulled today was scouring toilets :(. Thanks MZ, I always love your visits!
This is a wonderful write. Great rhythm and intensity!
Thanks Apryl, nice to see you here :). I was so excited to hear that your family places were in New Mexico!
Super fun Anna. Loved to hear you read it with so much spunk. Its fun just read too.
So glad you enjoyed it, thank you!
remember seeing something abut tis lady – may have been the same docu – not sure but recall seeing here in the wonder woman costume – fascinating – and how briliiantly you conveyed Anna – action – comes out kicking – phew that was a close one – 🙂 ‘now that’s what I’m talkking about’ – hugs Lib
Cool, you’re right it is Jeannie Epper who was the Wonder Woman stunt double I’m just calling Zoe a Wonder Woman :). Thanks for your enthusiasm!
Soooo cool- this is badass…..read it over and over again just because it flowssssssss!!!! This has style in abundance!!!
Sweet! Thought the style fit the subject, so happy you enjoyed it! Did you listen to the recording?
Anna! This was so much fun…I’m running behind and sneaking in comments at work, so I’ll have to wait a bit to enjoy the video (can’t make this too obvious…right?!) I think Stu summed it up perfectly when he said badass!
Tash! Awesome, hope you get a chance to listen to the recording later too (much shorter than the video). Thanks so much for stopping by :)!
I like the beat quality to this, Anna. It is great read aloud.
Pamela
That part was the most fun :)!
As wild and visual as a surround sound movie loved it
Oooo, thanks!
One of the things I love about you is that you continue to experiment with your poetry, pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone. This is one example of that, where the vocabulary and phrasing is so different from your usual. Without such experimentation, one runs the risk of becoming stagnant; it is this pushing of the limits that creates incredible potential.
Wow, my experimentation often gets me derided or looked at strangely. A woman at one of my painting exhibitions said, but they’re all so different. Well, I had myriad things to say, I love to explore, and agree that stagnation can become the death of art. I think there’s a great deal of vulnerability in experimenting, especially when I fall on my face. Your encouragement, role modeling, and the community at dVerse goes a long way toward counteracting a desire to play it safe, thank you!
