Thought Experiment: begin with a cryptographic key life cycle where you function as the key
Key Life Cycle (in developmental phases)
Generation
give birth, bring forth ideas illuminated
in liquidity’s nourishing infrastructure
embody the symbols, imprint the genetic code
Distribution
produce without possession
envision freedom from rationality
educe a contradistinction
Storage
gather the cipher and the subtext
data amassed for encoding
integrate a secret sharing scheme
Usage
excel but do not lead your thoughts
breathe, decrypt the psychological schemas
act without premeditated expectation
Change
assimilate the workings of the universe
puzzle out an esemplastic solution
to unlock strategies of liberation
Destruction
allow entropy to overpower existence
witness the denaturing of mysterious virtue,
for all states are possible in the end
* This poem was influenced by the 10th Chapter (Pacifying the agitated, material soul) of Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu and is a companion piece to Feasting on Shadows. Chromatopia, LLC has just released its first two books of poetry: These Little Episodes and Signal from Static available in e-book and paperback.
nice…some cool kernels here….kind like puzzle pieces for me to coming to a whole…produce without possession
envision freedom from rationality
educe a contradistinction…ha, i like…a rather socialist ideal, but i like as there is compassion in it, i think…also the assimilate the ways of the universe to unlock liberation….cool write anna
This schematic worked for me, linking everyday bodily function to creativity. I loved the braiding of true freedom through each stage–until destruction! It is hard to wrap my mind around denature/entropy and everything is possible. This end reminds me of Janis Joplin’d folk song Me and Bobbi McGee. Is freedom nothing left to lose? Is nature that disinterested? Scratch a scientist and find a Romantic.
A brilliant rendition of the Tao Te Ching through cryptography. I’m not sure if you intended it or not, but several of your lines that are not direct allusions to the 10th chapter of the Tao Te Ching also mirror teachings from Taoist texts. Such as Autumn Floods and the line:
“for all states are possible in the end”
In Autumn Floods Chuang Tzu states:
“He who clearly apprehends the scheme of existence does not rejoice over life, nor repine at death; for he knows that terms are not final.”
Brilliant composition Anna. The way your brain connects and melds things into unity is astonishing. Lao Tzu would admire your poetic mind that dissolves duality and separation.
very interesting read anna…sounds communistic in its base.. not familiar with his works but really like how the poem builds….connecting from one step to the next
Wow. I’m off to dig deeper and increase my understanding (Tao Te Ching references). It works as a strictly logical analysis of writing poetry too, at least I think so.
As usual, Anna, I had to go and look one of your words up 🙂 Enjoyed this, once I understood esemplastic. Congratulations on the book releases too – I hope they go well.
A interesting and good write, Anna.
fabulous stuff.
This is fascinating.
Your poetry always gets my brain flowing!
This is very fascinating and enjoy this so much. Sometime I do not understand all the words and need to find them. this makes for deeper reading and you always pull me into your pieces. I enjoyed this so much. Here is my entry for this week: http://gatelesspassage.com/2013/02/04/mothers-love/
You swim in some deep water, girl. I like the process you lead us through, the instruction, the observation of something learned in real life passion play. TO me the end lead me back to the beginning, but from different perspective. But maybe I drink too much. At any rate, you always impress me and love your love to express what you havelearned through what you see. It’s not just knowlege, it’s the blood of what you have researched shared to touch our souls.
You are such an interesting writer ‘give birth, bring forth ideas illuminated’ that’s just perfect 🙂
Ah! Taoist commandments?!? Fascinatingly intricate intellectual exercise.
In your poetry, all states are possible… You connect the dots like no other. I am always learning from you in entirely new ways. I love that.
so good to read an Anna poem. hope your hand is happy soon. your poem is a wonderful challenge. always interesting to read the sources.
Is it really possible to act without premeditated expectation? Interesting thoughts.
Megaminds think alike 🙂
hows the hand? looks like you have healed!
great PO, the subject really works in your experimental mode FOR SURE!
an excellent movement of words and concept aligned 🙂
Thoughts to process and much reading to do… all down to this post! 🙂
As Henry said, “You swim in deep water, girl.” You push esthetics & metaphysics though the sieve of poetics, and we, though struggling to fathom it all, are pulled through the eye of the portal, and always emerge enlightened and delighted; another fine job, Anna.
ooh you do serve up a beautiful blend of lyrically scientific mysticism…clean on the palate 🙂
but do we need to allow entropy to overpower existence?
